ABOUT OIC RED NETWORK

Established in January 2019 in Istanbul, is a membership representing Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States.

Guided by Movement Statutes and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Constitution, is set to address the growing humanitarian challenges faced by National Societies within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States.

Shares the idea of regional perspective and engages in joint activities to achieve common goals through National Societies within the OIC Member States as well as is an achievement of the goal of the Implementation Plan 2016-2025 of the OIC-2025 Plan of Action.

Will contribute to and strengthen sustainable development through enhanced resilience of the communities within the OIC Member States through; Advocacy, Humanitarian Policy, Capacity Building, and Resource Mobilization.

Membership in the Network includes any National Society within the OIC Member States recognized as a component of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement that is still willing to contribute or would benefit from participation.

Türk Kızılay is the host National Society of the OIC Red Network and the Network Secretariat is located in İstanbul.

OUR STRUCTURE

OIC Red Network of the Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies in the OIC Member States is composed of: General Membership Meeting, Steering Committee; Network Secretariat.

General Membership Meetings; the supreme decision-making body; identifies the general strategies and priorities of the network and is projected to meet every two years, nonetheless may have extraordinary meetings when necessary. i.e. Members of the OIC Red Network.

Steering Committee; Steering Committee is composed of rotating members for a certain time with equitable diversity and adopts two-year `Work Plans` and ‘Strategic Plans’ that will be facilitated by Network Secretariat.

Steering Committee Member National Societies; Afghan Red Crescent, Iraqi Red Crescent, Jordan National Red Crescent, Kuwait Red Crescent, Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan, Qatar Red Crescent, Senegalese Red Cross, The Sudanese Red Crescent, Turkish Red Crescent, Togolese Red Cross 

Network Secretariat; The Secretariat’s functions as the standing executive structure; provide engagement with members and stakeholders and ensure that strategies are effectively implemented, and is accountable to the Steering Committee and the General Membership Meeting for the fulfillment of the strategy, objectives, and the implementation of the Network’s work plan.
